Homework: February 14

Honors English 11 (D block)

  • Give a quick read and mark up to the Introduction to Paul Rusesabagina's autobiography An Ordinary Man. It will provide helpful context for the film we're watching.
English 11 (F block)
  • Give a quick read and mark up to the NY Times movie review of Restrepo called "Battle Company: Loving Life, Making War." It will provide helpful context for the film we're watching.
Honors English 11 (G block)

  • Read, mark up and respond to the article “What Makes Us Moral?” for Friday.
  • For your response, just write a page or so about your thoughts, reactions, and/or connections.
    • You could write about:
      • What’s your reaction to the article’s ideas about morality? Explain.
      • Discuss a “move” made by the writer in this piece that you think is good and/or interesting. Explain.
      • Pick a passage from the article and respond to it.
Honors English 11 (A block)
  • Read and mark up the story "Recitatif," keeping in mind the question: How do our families of origin, friends, societies and psychologies shape our morals and values? 
    • Mark up the story with your observations and questions about identity- and relationship-development.
