- Today in class, we finished watching the Fick/O'Brien interview. This is the link for the interview. By Thursday, June 6, at 7:30 A.M., you must write and post a comment to the interview on the blog post linked here. The comment should be 1-2 paragraphs, and should:
- respond to the interview (what resonates with you?)
- make connections between the interview and O'Brien's text (and, other texts from this year?)
- Continue working on reading and completing your The Things They Carried work. It's all due on Wednesday (not Tuesday as originally announced).
- Bring your Gatsby book to class tomorrow, and make sure your Gatsby essay is available electronically--Google Docs?
I thought the interview was very interesting. It opened up my perspective to other things. The thing that resonates with me the most when they talked about truth. Both Tim and Nate were were saying that what may true to you may not be true to someone else. Also, that truth is different in everyones eyes and people view it differently. Truth can be altered by peoples views and how they take it in. Another thing that resonates with me is one of the things that O'Brien has been living with. O'Brien was explaineng how when they got new guns and would shoot at cans and when the officer shot at an innocent man and he didn't care. I was shocked by this and the fact that the officer was okay with shooting this guy for no reason.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that O'Brien and Fick talked about with truth ooccured in O'Briens book. O'Brien told his version of his stories in his book and he would tell the truth that he had known but it wasn't the truth. The truth can be decieving and can change quickly in just as if did in O' Briens book when you would believe one thing he told you and then he would tell you it was a lie
