Homework: June 4

Honors English 11 (A)

  • Write a reflection on today's discussion activity (sorry we had to cut it short--I would have loved more time to talk with you!). In your reflection, address some of the ideas that resonated with you that you heard from your classmates--be specific about what people said! "I thought it was interesting when so-and-so said such-and-such about that guy, because..."  instead of, "Yeah, a few of the people I talked to had really good ideas."
  • Be ready to hand in EVERYTHING tomorrow.
  • Read your independent book!
Honors English 11 (D)
  • Start thinking about your final portfolio and your "This I Believe" essay. Check out this site: thisibelieve.org   It has a lot of resources for you, including example essays and suggestions for writing. We listened to this one in class today, but there are so many more. You can browse by "theme" or just look through some titles. I'll share a couple more with you in class on Friday.
  • Remember, I gave you a "cultural knowledge" assignment--keep an eye out today for information on Tiananmen Square--today's the 25th anniversary of a student protest that ended tragically. Look it up, read about it, watch the news...
  • Read your independent book!
